We shoot a lot of green screen photo booth events. Open air green screen booths is our biggest seller and we service every event type and size imaginable. As popular as our green screen booths are, a percentage of our photo booth work is commissioned by commercial, corporate, and non-profits. Consultations with these clients help us create booths that enhance branding, product rollout, and marketing. One client may request us to wrap a green screen set around a three dimensional product, which can be extremely effective for a trade show display. For another client, a more personal approach to their service is needed.
For this event, I was contacted by a well-established limousine company about to mark their 20th anniversary in business. The plan was to celebrate the two decades of success and also showcase the company's vehicles and service to business owners and community leaders. I met with the owner and was given a quick tour of the location for the event and the variety of vehicles they run. One of the vehicles that was to be heavily promoted was a party bus. The vehicle is the size a large shuttle bus, holds 10, and looks stunning. One look inside and I decided this was going to become our photo booth.
We arrived early the day of the event and went to work pulling out the emergency windows and overhead emergency hatch. This gave access points to attached strobe lighting soft boxes. These boxes produce a pleasing, soft, even light inside of the vehicle These vehicles typically have lots of black leather and this one was no exception. All that black can cause a small space to look two dimensional as highlights can be lost. To add some snap and bring it back to life we carefully added two smaller kicker strobes. Some thoughtful attention with the light meter and after a few test shots we were ready to go. The photographer was located in the cab of the vehicle, shooting through the drop down window. A print station with editor was tabled at the side of the shuttle.
Both from a marketing and entertainment perspective, the booth was a huge success.
By understanding the clients goal of marketing the vehicle, we were able to transform it into a unique photo booth, drawing guests and potential customers inside, allowing them to actually experience the comfortable interior, electronics, and bar.
Each guest took away a 4x6 photo, not only as a reminder of a fun evening, but a reminder of the luxury of the party bus and the business branding on the photo.
Shaking things up and exceeding a clients expectations is what makes this business so much fun for me.
